Kirkwood Test Center: Testing Procedures

Kirkwood Test Center aims to provide the highest quality testing services by maintaining a secure facility, skilled and courteous employees, and positive working relationships with students, faculty, and the public.

Testing procedures

Academic integrity

While using the Test Center, you are subject to the College's academic integrity procedure, as well as that of your own institution or exam sponsor, if applicable. Proctors monitor all activity in the test room visually, via audio/video recording equipment, and via computer monitoring software. Suspected misconduct will be reported to your instructor, institution, or exam sponsor for further action.

Appointments

The Test Center administers exam by appointment only. Walk-ins are only accepted if the Test Center is fully booked. Kirkwood students must register for appointments using their College email addresses to ensure their appointments are booked properly and any approved accommodations are attached.

Food and drinks

Food and drinks, including bottled water, candy, and gum, are not allowed in the test room. This rule does not apply to students with documented accommodations.

Restroom breaks

Test takers are encouraged to use the restroom before checking in to the Test Center. Test takers who must use the restroom during an exam must notify the proctor before leaving the room. All testing materials must remain at the workstation. Lengthy or repeated restroom breaks may be reported as suspected misconduct.

Late arrivals

Kirkwood Test Center administers exams by appointment only.

The time shown on your exam registration is the time at which you are expected to begin testing. We strongly encourage all test takers to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to their appointment to allow time to park, check in, stow personal belongings, and have any questions answered in advance.

What to do if you are running late

If you are running late, please contact us as soon as possible. In most cases, we can move your appointment to a later time the same day.

While we will do our best to accommodate those who arrive late, our general policy is that test takers who are not checked in 15 minutes after their scheduled start time will be marked "no show" and will need to reschedule.

Test takers who arrive late enough in the date that the Test Center will close before their allotted time expires will be required to sign a waiver form, acknowledging that they must stop testing at closing time, before being admitted to their exams.

Parking

Most parking at Kirkwood is free of charge. However, available parking spaces near the Test Center can be scarce when classes are in session. We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes prior to appointment time to park and make your way to the Test Center. Please note that illegally parked vehicles may be issued warnings or citations by Public Safety.
