Kirkwood Test Center: Proctored exams for other institutions

Kirkwood Test Center aims to provide the highest quality testing services by maintaining a secure facility, skilled and courteous employees, and positive working relationships with students, faculty, and the public.

General guidelines

Kirkwood Test center proctors exams for students attending other colleges and universities, and individuals pursuing certifications from credentialing bodies and other exam sponsors. Appointments are required for all exams. Please note that third-party testing may be limited or unavailable during the College's peak academic testing times.

  • Refer to our Testing Procedures page for helpful information about using the Test Center, including identification and rules for test takers.
  • Kirkwood Test Center administers paper- and computer-delivered exams. In most cases, we cannot proctor exams that require the installation of third-party software on our computers. Contact us before booking your appointment if you have any questions.

Proctoring fee

Kirkwood Test Center charges a proctoring fee of $20 per exam for other institutions and credentialing bodies. This fee is collected when you register for your exam through RegisterBlast, our online scheduling tool.

The proctoring fee is waived for the following Iowa community colleges:
  • Des Moines Area Community College
  • Eastern Iowa Community College
  • Hawkeye Community College
  • Indian Hills Community College
  • Iowa Central Community College
  • Iowa Lakes Community College
  • Iowa Valley Community College
  • Iowa Western Community College
  • North Iowa Area Community College
  • Northeast Iowa Community College
  • Northwest Iowa Community College
  • Southeastern Community College

If you need to cancel an appointment for which you have paid a proctoring fee, please contact the Test Center. We will refund 50% of your proctoring fee if you cancel up to the day before your appointment. If you cancel the day of your exam or you miss your appointment, your proctoring fee is non-refundable.

In most cases, we are happy to reschedule your exam to another day (subject to availability) to avoid forfeiture of your proctoring fee.
