What is TRIO- Iowa City?

Kirkwood Community College's TRIO Student Support Services-English as a Second Language program (TRIO- Iowa City) is a federally funded program under the U.S. Department of Education. We provide opportunities for academic, social, and cultural development for multilingual students.

Who can join TRIO- Iowa City?

  1. Be enrolled in courses at Kirkwood Community College's Iowa City Campus

  2. Be enrolled in English Language Acquisition classes, a non-native English speaker, or speak, read, write in another language at home.

  3. Meet at least one of these three criteria:

    1. Be a First Generation student (Neither parent or guardian has a four-year college degree)

    2. Low Income

    3. Have a documented disability
