APA style is one of several different ways to cite the sources you use in your own paper or project. It's often used by researchers in social sciences, so you may see it used in other classes you take too.
Like other citation styles, it provides a basic pattern to follow in creating citations, and is used to refer your readers or audience to the original sources you consulted while creating your own work.
If you are new to APA style, we recommend watching this short video introduction:
APA Style Guide
The Library has an extensive guide to creating APA Style citations on our website. It begins with general guidance on creating citations, then provide examples for several different types of resources, like books, journal articles, and websites.
It also has a page on in-text citations, and on how to format your References page.
Ask a librarian for help with creating citations. Stop by the reference desk in person, or use the Ask a Librarian chat on our website.
If you need disability-related accommodations in order to use the Library, our website, or our resources, please contact the library at library@kirkwood.edu or 319-398-5697.
