ALEKS Test (Math Placement)

The ALEKS math placement assessment is currently unproctored and available through MyHub. ALEKS is a required math assessment used to map a student’s strengths and weaknesses, and determine the most appropriate courses for each student as they move forward. Note: the ALEKS assessment must be taken through Kirkwood Community College.

To Take The ALEKS

  1. Log in to MyHub
    • Select the Math Assessment ALEKS button, located under the Student Links Section.
    • Under the Assessments section, select Standard Math Placement [unproctored], FY 2021 / Higher Education Math Placement.
    • Complete the entire ALEKS tutorial before getting started.

  2. After your initial assessment, check the Placement Testing Course Recommendations Table to see which courses you are eligible to enroll. Please talk with an Academic Advisor to discuss which math course is required for your program of study.

  3. If you did not earn the proficiency score you think you should, you can utilize the prep and learning modules to review and retake the assessment up to four additional times.

  4. If you earned the placement result needed to enroll in a particular course, you are still eligible and encouraged to utilize the ALEKS learning modules for twelve-months to review and prepare for your math course.

For more instructions and tips on how to take the ALEKS assessment, refer to the ALEKS Testing Instructions, or view the ALEKS instructional video.

If you have additional questions about how to take the ALEKS assessment, please visit ALEKS Support.
